Letter from the Board

Some Items From the HCHOA Board Meeting, 9/21/99:

There was a great deal of discussion of the signage in our neighborhood, presented by Safety Committee members in attendence (see the safety Committee's section for details). Also, a number of other safety issues and homeowner's concerns were addressed.

it was brought to the attention of Continential Homes that the construction sites and dump sites need better monitoring. Safety was the main concern for this topic, as well as the visual aspects of the sites. For their safety, please discourage your children from playing in the construction homes and around the dumpsters.

Another issue considored was that of homeowners over watering their lawns. In addition to the waste of water, it was also noted that over watering causes the water to seep under the sidewalks, curbs, and streets from inside the yard. When this water gets under thr roadway it softens the road base ad increases the amount of damage caused by vehicles driving on these areas. This will eventually translate to higher street repair bills that our neighborhood will have to pay. We can solve this problem (or reduce the damage this can cause) by better monitiring the water we put on our lawns, and stopping the flow before it becomes excessive.

A letter will go out soon to announce a special homeowner's meeting for voting on a proposed commons area. A date has not yet been set, but it is known that voting by proxy will be available. The location of the commons area has been narrowed down, and the vote will be a "go/no-go" for securing the property for future development.

We have a contract for sweeping our streets the second Wednesday of each month between 11:oo am and 1:00 pm, vehicles need ot be off our streets so that the sreets are swept as clean as possible.

Lastly, the Board is looking into the possiblity of having the City of Helotes change or create an ordinance that will allow Police Departent to enfornce the traffic laws within our neighborhood. This is difficult because we are a privately owned development and thr law currently says if the police are called due to a vehicular accident, they will come onto the property and make a report but cannot issue a traffic ticket to the person that caused the accident.
