Letters to the Webmaster
Having just received the second newsletter, since moving into Helotes Crossing, the following concern should be raised. One aspect unmentioned in one of the communities main concerns, our children, are the property rights of each individual homeowner. Thus far stop signs have been erected in many places, including some which do not seem reasonable, speed limits are posted and a "children playing" sign is posted as well. This is all good and a step in the right direction. It would seem that now that our children's safety concerns have been addressed and brought to the attention of all we now need to remind our children of respecting other's properties rights. Children have been observed riding their bicycles up driveways, which do not belong to their parents, slam their bicycle tires into the garage doors and then kick off the door. Children have been seen throwing rocks onto other owner's lawns and bat them at homes and automobiles that do not belong to them. Lawns, which are expensive to maintain, are being run over by children who do not live in the homes on those lawns. All would agree that these events are a nuisance and unpleasant to all homeowners who work at maintaining their properties and homes in tiptop condition. The reality is that there is not a common area for children to play, however this does not necessarily invite our children to play and tear up the grounds and homes of others. Perhaps inviting the Helotes police department to patrol our community and issue citations to those who do not obey traffic laws is not such a bad idea, then maybe the police can also issue citations to those who do not wish to respect the property rights of others. Now is the time to teach our children manners before the Helotes police department must do it for us. Thank you for providing us with a wonderful website. from tylerfh@gateway.net --thank you for writing!
